This is set 368-1 Taxi Garage. It’s a vintage set from 1976.
The taxi garage is attached to a two-story house. We assume the driver and his wife live here. For their conveneance Shell have placed a single gas pump in the garden.
The garage doors are rather big and the door and windows of the house quite small. But what stands out most about this set is the minifigures:
LEGO’s first attempt to a smaller figure to go along the builds and cars they were developing. The head lacks a face, the arms are attached to the torso and the legs look like a skirt with feet poking out on the bottom.
All things considered, I really like those small figures. Static as they are, it was clear LEGO were on to something. The size and shapes were definitely appealing. No wonder they serve as the beta version of current, very cute and successful minifigs.
We saved this set from one of our first LEGO hauls in 2019. A father selling his teenage kids’ LEGO and, apparently, some of his own.
It was missing a blue plate for the garage roof and the slopes of the house were discoloured. But since then we were able to find those parts in other hauls. Brick-wise the set is now complete and build again with pat pend parts. We are hoewever still looking for the instructions.
