For this vintage tram I was looking for inspiration in the maxifig sets from the 70s. Set 252-1 offers a Locomotive with Driver and Passenger.
To stay true to the era, I only used the basic colors: black, red, yellow and some hints of blue and white. Furthermore most of the pieces are 2-by-bricks.
To give the tram some detail I used more modern parts, like the boat studs and the bar handles. The roof is modular, so great for playability.
The black 8×16 plates for the roof and chassis only come with a few big sets. However the build is solid enough to use the more common 8×8 black plates.
When I used this tram for the adventure Space Squad want to take the tram, it had vintage train wheels. Unfortunately these aren’t available in Bricklink Studio, so I had to replace them with modern spoked wheels, that fit bricks with technic pins.
A similar problem occurred with the maxifigs: only the plain heads are available in BL Studio, not the printed faces. Also the hair and hat pieces are not available in BL Studio. These are irreplaceable, so I added images to the instructions. They are also added to the parts list.
